Advocacy

Policy outcomes aren't won in a single meeting. They're won by showing up early, with the right argument, in front of the people who actually decide.

three shapes advocacy

We work directly with state, federal, and international policymakers to build the conversations that improve our clients' ability to offer their products and services. When appropriate, we advocate on their behalf for changes to policy frameworks that would let them better serve their customers.

We know that effective advocacy is rarely just a single meeting. It's about formulating a persuasive argument, knowing which stakeholders matter, and leveraging holistic public affairs strategies to shape policy outcomes.

We work from a simple premise: proactive, credible engagement with policy stakeholders on key issues can result in long-term commercial benefits — and prevent adverse policy outcomes.

Our team has testified before the United States Congress, the Canadian Parliament, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, and various regulatory agencies, and is regularly cited on policy matters by the Financial Times, Bloomberg, American Banker, The Globe and Mail, and other leading outlets.

Where We Work

Federal

In Washington, D.C., our team has deep relationships in the Executive Branch, regulatory agencies, and in Congress, and advocates on our clients' behalf to advance their policy priorities.

We have extensive experience working directly with administration officials and federal regulatory agencies on rulemakings, guidance, examinations, and enforcement matters. Where a rulemaking produces obligations you will have to operationalize, our Compliance practice picks up the work.

01

States

Every state is different. We work with legislators and regulators in statehouses across the country to tell our clients' stories, tailoring the approach to the particular character of each state's policy and political environment.

02

International

Many of our clients offer products and services globally. We have on-the-ground expertise with policymakers across the world, including in Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Mexico.
